Mr. and Mrs. Robertt Trent

Saint Marys, GA 31558-4135

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Trent,

Thank you for contacting me regarding the E-verify System for those immigrating to the United States.

As you may know, E-Verify is an online federal government system that allows employers to certify an employee’s or potential employee’s United States work status. While federal employers, contractors, and vendors are required to use E-Verify, at the state level, there are variants to which businesses must use the system and which do not. Recently, implementation with regards to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program has been discussed in Congress.

While our nation is one of immigrants, it is also one of law. Illegal immigration continues to be a serious problem in our country. I believe individuals who lawfully seek to become citizens of our country should be welcome. However, individuals who enter the United States illegally are placing an undue burden on American citizens and our country as a whole.

I will be sure to monitor immigration policies and keep your thoughts in mind as we discuss immigration and the issues faced by individuals seeking to make the United States home. Thank you, once again, for contacting me. It is an honor to represent the First
Congressional District of Georgia.

Sincerely,

Congressman Buddy Carter
