SCORECARD 2016 GEORGIA GENERAL ASSEMBLY ISSUES

Action needed to change the below little-known issues in GOP Georgia

*Are you pro-English?
Georgia has a law that says English is our official language, but it is meaningless and toothless. Proof? Our drivers license written test is administered in eleven languages! There will be an effort in the 2016 session to pass a Resolution that would allow all Georgia voters to answer a ballot question on amending the state constitution to make English the constitutional official language of government. We urge you to contact your state legislator to make your opinion clear on this.

*Should illegal aliens get a driver’s license that looks like what you use to vote?
Georgia has been issuing drivers licenses, official state photo ID cards and many public benefits (including unemployment eligibility) to illegal aliens since 2012. To date, about 20,000 illegal aliens who benefit from Obama’s executive action promising not to deport and to reward the illegals with a work permit and a real SSN have been issued a DL and or official Georgia ID.

According to the Obama administration and federal law, illegal aliens given a delay in deportation are still illegal aliens. They do not have legal status. See HERE.

Last session, legislation to end the practice of giving illegal drivers license, SB 6, from Republican Senator Josh McKoon was never allowed even one hearing and an amendment to stop the DL reward was defeated on the floor of the super-majority Republican senate by an unrecorded vote. You cannot go back to any records and see how your senator voted. Of 38 Repubs, only 12 Georgia state senators co-sponsored SB 6. Only 4 supported McKoon’s effort for a recorded vote.

The legislators are far more worried about the Georgia Chamber of Commerce than they are worried about voters.

We have a “Plan B” on a drivers card for illegal aliens HERE that will help to insure they don’t register to vote using the license they are now issued.

*Should the Georgia state senate have and use a rule that allows an unrecorded vote so that it is impossible to see how your own senator voted – on anything?

FYI – the un-recorded vote was also used to get to a final floor vote on the transportation tax hike.

For an easy to understand explanation of how illegals get a drivers license in Georgia, please see HERE. For a first-hand narrative of how the GOP senate defeated the McKoon amendment and insight into the practice of the unrecorded vote, please see HERE.

In the first few days of the 2016 session, State Senator Josh McKoon will introduce a resolution to alter senate rules to discard the unrecorded vote – now known as “rise stand and be counted” and put all floor votes on the tally machine.

Because of the power of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Metro-Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and the Ag industry, the chance of passing SB 6 are very slim.

THE GEORGIA CHAMBER OPPOSES SB 6. The GOP legislators are far more worried about the business lobby than the GOP voting base. Also, they know that most Georgians are unaware of the DL issue and the unrecorded vote practice in the senate. The DL the illegals get looks almost exactly like your DL – SEE HERE.

Maybe they won’t use it to register to vote as in N. Carolina. What will come next? See HERE.

NOTE: There is no bill in the Georgia House to stop giving illegals a DL or official state-issued ID.

*Should illegal aliens get in-state tuition while legal immigrants/citizens pay more?
The move is on to reward the deferred action illegal aliens with instate tuition in taxpayer-funded Georgia universities. This would give them cheaper tuition than legal immigrants and U.S. citizens who live in Chattanooga, Panama City – or any other state. The Democrat-sponsored bill on instate tuition did get a hearing and is still alive in the senate.

*Why will the Republican General Assembly not allow us to vote on amending the state constitution making English the official language of government when we vote for president?

*Why are we giving drivers licenses to illegal aliens in conservative Georgia?

*Why does the state senate have and use a rule allowing unrecorded votes?

*Why are illegal aliens even allowed in our finite-seat university system, at any tuition rate?

*BONUS SHAKE-YOUR-HEAD FACT HERE

Proposed ballot question for November, 2016:

“Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended so as to provide that English is the official language of the State of Georgia?
“All persons desiring to vote in favor of ratifying the proposed amendment shall vote “Yes.” All persons desiring to vote against ratifying the proposed amendment shall vote “No.”
If such amendment shall be ratified as provided in said Paragraph of the Constitution, it shall become a part of the Constitution of this state.”
