Police headquarters, City of Decatur credit: City of Decatur

Mr. Saxon, I was directed to you by somebody in your office named “Andrea.”

Please regard this as my official open records request for a copy of the “one page policy” regarding illegal aliens and cooperation with federal enforcement authorities the AJC has reported as (‘Decatur approves policy limiting cooperation with ICE’, AJC – October 4, 2017) approved by City Manager in the news report linked here https://www.myajc.com/news/breaking-news/decatur-approves-policy-limiting-cooperation-with-ice/Aq6UcCk6wCC5pMbwOn9e9H/politicallygeorgia.html

Here is one quote from that news article: “Approved Friday by City Manager Peggy Merriss, the one-page policy prohibits Decatur police from arresting, detaining or transporting anyone solely on the basis of detainers issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.” Here is another quote from the City Manager in the AJC: “Through on-going discussions we decided to review our practice and unwritten policy and determined that we would codify into written form what already existed.”

To be clear, the policy that reportedly is ‘one-page’ and approved by the Decatur City Manager would be associated with the race-baiting, anti-borders lobby’s push for this sanctuary for illegal aliens policy that is linked here. http://www.decaturish.com/2017/09/hate-free-decatur-plans-to-ask-city-commission-to-limit-interaction-with-immigration-agents/

I look forward to your response.

Thank you,
