{"id":959,"date":"2007-08-15T07:52:04","date_gmt":"2007-08-15T11:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thedustininmansociety.com\/blog\/?p=959"},"modified":"2007-08-15T07:57:14","modified_gmt":"2007-08-15T11:57:14","slug":"nationmal-gaurd-leaving-border-patrol-agents-being-asked-to-construct-border-fence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thedustininmansociety.org\/blog\/2007\/08\/15\/nationmal-gaurd-leaving-border-patrol-agents-being-asked-to-construct-border-fence\/","title":{"rendered":"National Gaurd leaving, Border Patrol Agents being asked to construct border fence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.local2544.org\/\">Border Patrol Agents,<\/a> already understaffed taken off patrol to construct fence.<\/p>\n<p>From the Washington Times:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Border Patrol to build fencing<\/strong><br \/>\nBy Jerry Seper and Stephen Dinan<\/p>\n<p><strong>The U.S. Border Patrol is asking for volunteers among its agents to help build fences on the U.S.-Mexico border, even as President Bush is withdrawing half the National Guard troops he sent there last year to build fences.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A memo circulated last week to Border Patrol sector chiefs said <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wnd.com\/news\/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=56039\">fence-building efforts on the Southwest border were going to fall short of Mr. Bush&#8217;s goal of finishing 70 miles in fiscal 2007<\/a>, which ends Sept. 30, &#8220;so the Border Patrol is now going back into the fence-building business.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The memo, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Times, called on the chiefs to provide lists of agents who &#8220;can and have built fences in the past,&#8221; adding that the agency was looking for welders, equipment operators and &#8220;anyone else with construction experience.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;They are moving quickly on this, so your sector&#8217;s response will be needed back here by noon tomorrow,&#8221; said the Aug. 6 memo, which asked that the entire Border Patrol be canvassed for agents qualified and able to work on fence construction&#8230;.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/apps\/pbcs.dll\/article?AID=\/20070814\/NATION\/108140076\/1001\">more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Border Patrol Agents, already understaffed taken off patrol to construct fence.
