Photo: AJC<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>AJC Political Insider and fading pretense<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Taking a break from the Confederate flag and redefinition-of-marriage marathon, the AJC&#8217;s Political Insider, Jim Galloway, turns his editorial keyboard to steering the public and legislators away from important &#8211; and <a href=\"http:\/\/politics.blog.ajc.com\/2015\/07\/08\/georgia-fireworks-laws-sponsor-wants-new-limits-on-when-you-can-light-up-the-sky\/\">potentially life-saving<\/a> &#8211; state immigration legislation aimed at full cooperation with ICE by local law enforcement agencies. At least the pretense has faded to \u201cbarely there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spinning hard, Galloway writes \u201cGeorgia has no \u201csanctuary cities\u201d \u2014 but no matter. Josh McKoon doesn\u2019t like the friendly way that Fulton, DeKalb and Clayton counties are looking at illegal immigrants\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/politics.blog.ajc.com\/2015\/07\/08\/georgia-fireworks-laws-sponsor-wants-new-limits-on-when-you-can-light-up-the-sky\/\">writes Galloway<\/a>\u00a0on McKoon\u2019s addition to pending legislation. Note that Galloway hopes nobody notices that by near universal definition, the three metro-Atlanta counties he mentions as \u201cfriendly\u201d have in place the same policies that make San Francisco a \u201csanctuary city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We say &#8220;to-may-to, to-mah-to.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco does not honor federal requests to detain illegal aliens. Neither do <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/news\/state-regional-govt-politics\/fulton-commissioners-urge-sheriff-to-stop-cooperat\/nhFdW\/\">Fulton<\/a>, DeKalb or Clayton counties in Georgia.
