These numbers revealed that 68 percent of our foreign born population at the jail is here illegally.

The following chart lists the charges on those inmates with detainers. Fifty-four percent of the 914 had a previous criminal history. The vast majority of those with prior criminal histories had previous criminal histories in Gwinnett.

LIST OF CRIMINAL CHARGES BY INDIVIDUAL

Murder
13
Rape
15

Armed Robbery
28
Child Molestation
23

Kidnapping
11
Aggravated Assault
38

Battery
15
Battery (Family Violence)
12

Theft (Felony)
34
Theft (Misdemeanor)
30

Drug Offense (Felony)
154
Burglary
17

Theft by Taking Motor Vehicle
7
Obstruction (Fel. or Mis.)
9

City / County Ord. Those illegal aliens would then be turned over to ICE for deportation proceedings. Currently, we are still waiting on approval for the 287(g) program from ICE.

Sheriff Conway again would like to thank the citizens of Gwinnett for their continued interest in this program.
