{"id":2628,"date":"2009-11-04T16:08:09","date_gmt":"2009-11-04T20:08:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thedustininmansociety.com\/blog\/?p=2628"},"modified":"2009-11-04T16:14:35","modified_gmt":"2009-11-04T20:14:35","slug":"fast-fact-165-milliopn-people-would-like-move-to-the-usa-gallupreuters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thedustininmansociety.org\/blog\/2009\/11\/04\/fast-fact-165-milliopn-people-would-like-move-to-the-usa-gallupreuters\/","title":{"rendered":"FAST FACT: 165 million people would like move to the USA : Gallup\/Reuters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Crisis has not halted migration hope of poor: Gallup<\/strong>Mon Nov 2, 2009 8:47am EST  Email | Print | Share| Reprints | Single Page[-] Text [+] <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>ATHENS (Reuters) &#8211; The global economic recession has not curbed the desire of the world&#8217;s poor to seek a better future by migrating, Gallup Inc. said on Monday after carrying out a worldwide poll.<\/p>\n<p>Around 700 million adults, some 16 percent of the world&#8217;s adult population, would move permanently to another country if they had the opportunity, Gallup said in a survey of 135 countries issued at a migration conference in Athens.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In most countries, people&#8217;s desire to relocate did not decrease meaningfully after the global economic crisis hit in 2008,&#8221; said Neli Esipova, the polling agency&#8217;s director of research for global migration.<\/p>\n<p>Almost eight of ten respondents who said they would like to emigrate were in a developing country, the poll showed.
