Illegal Immigration Battles Loom with Obama <\/strong>by Phil Kent <\/p>\n 01\/13\/2009 <\/p>\n Despite their victory in the huge fight over amnesty for illegal immigrants in 2007, conservatives can\u2019t rest easy: it\u2019s all about to happen all over again. <\/p>\n The Democrats\u2019 (and RINO Republicans\u2019) push for \u201ccomprehensive immigration reform\u201d has returned and will be a major issue this year, and perhaps next year as well if the pro-amnesty groups don\u2019t get their way. <\/p>\n Whether Barack Obama wants to risk another public backlash over such a comprehensive effort early in his first term — knowing that polls indicate the large majority of Americans oppose illegal immigration — is a big question mark. But we do know that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, (D-Nev) said just two Sundays ago on Meet the Press that John McCain had promised him to work \u201creal, real hard on immigration reform, and I\u2019ll work with him\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
