Michael Waller<\/p>\n<p>Mexico has a radical idea for a rational immigration policy that most Americans would love. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Mexico has a single, streamlined law that ensures that<br \/>\nforeign visitors and immigrants are:<br \/>\n\u2022 in the country legally;<br \/>\n\u2022 have the means to sustain themselves economically;<br \/>\n\u2022 not destined to be burdens on society;<br \/>\n\u2022 of economic and social benefit to society;<br \/>\n\u2022 of good character and have no criminal records; and<br \/>\n\u2022 contributors to the general well-being of the nation.<br \/>\nThe law also ensures that:<br \/>\n\u2022 immigration authorities have a record of each foreign visitor;<br \/>\n\u2022 foreign visitors do not violate their visa status;<br \/>\n\u2022 foreign visitors are banned from interfering in the country\u2019s internal politics;<br \/>\n\u2022 foreign visitors who enter under false pretenses are imprisoned or deported;<br \/>\n\u2022 foreign visitors violating the terms of their entry are imprisoned or deported;<br \/>\n\u2022 those who aid in illegal immigration will be sent to prison.<br \/>\nWho could disagree with such a law? It makes perfect sense. The Mexican constitution<br \/>\nstrictly defines the rights of citizens \u2013 and the denial of many fundamental rights to noncitizens,<br \/>\nillegal and illegal.
