{"id":1823,"date":"2008-09-13T11:25:25","date_gmt":"2008-09-13T15:25:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thedustininmansociety.com\/blog\/?p=1823"},"modified":"2008-09-13T11:25:25","modified_gmt":"2008-09-13T15:25:25","slug":"crime-by-illegals-is-up-in-gwinnett-county-georgia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thedustininmansociety.org\/blog\/2008\/09\/13\/crime-by-illegals-is-up-in-gwinnett-county-georgia\/","title":{"rendered":"Crime by illegals is up in Gwinnett County Georgia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Gwinnett Daily Post<\/em><br \/>\n11 September 2008<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grand jury: Crime up by illegals<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Group suggests educating immigrants on laws, customs<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>LAWRENCEVILLE &#8211; A grand jury panel said illegal immigrants appear to be committing a &#8220;disproportionate number&#8221; of crimes in Gwinnett.<\/p>\n<p>In presentments to be published in today&#8217;s Gwinnett Daily Post Legal Notices, the panel recommended the county commission and state legislature track the impact of illegal immigration on taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is the opinion of this grand jury that until the actual impact of illegal immigration is accurately known, rational business decisions to reduce this impact cannot be made,&#8221; the presentments read.<\/p>\n<p>The body also asked leaders to study and implement programs to reach out to the county&#8217;s foreign-born population to teach them the &#8220;laws and customs&#8221; of this country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This way, law-abiding immigrants may fully understand and participate in the community,&#8221; the document reads.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy County Administrator Mike Comer said some outreach programs are under consideration.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is not just a job for local government, but it should be done by other groups,&#8221; such as the Chamber of Commerce, which reaches out to business owners, Comer said. &#8220;It&#8217;ll probably be something we develop over time.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>PLEASE READ THE REST OF THIS   <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gwinnettdailypost.com\/main.asp?SectionID=6&#038;SubSectionID=84&#038;ArticleID=50221\">  HERE      <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gwinnett Daily Post 11 September 2008 Grand jury: Crime up by illegals Group suggests educating immigrants on laws, customs LAWRENCEVILLE &#8211; A grand jury panel said illegal immigrants appear to be committing a &#8220;disproportionate number&#8221; of crimes in Gwinnett.
