Senate Announces New Committee Chairs<\/h1>\n

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE \u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Today, Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan and the Senate Committee on Assignments announced new standing committee chairs for the first session of the 156th\u00a0Georgia General Assembly.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese committee chairs are uniquely qualified to develop real and lasting solutions aimed at building a better Georgia,\u201d said Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan. \u201cThe Senate will continue to prioritize diligent committee work and sound public policy, and I look forward to working closely with each one of our chairs, and their committee members, as we work to enact policies that advance both the lives and livelihoods of all Georgians.\u201d<\/p>\n

The following members were named to chair standing committees:<\/p>\n

Sen. Larry Walker (R \u2013 20) will serve as chair of the Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Committee.<\/p>\n

Sen. Blake Tillery (R \u2013 19) will serve as chair of the Appropriations Committee.<\/p>\n

Sen. Matt Brass (R \u2013 28) will serve as chair of the Banking and Financial Institutions Committee.<\/p>\n

Sen. Bruce Thompson (R \u2013 14) will serve as chair of the Economic Development and Tourism Committee.<\/p>\n

Sen. Chuck Payne (R \u2013 54) will serve as chair of the Education and Youth Committee.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sen. Max Burns (R \u2013 23) will serve as chair of the Ethics Committee.<\/p>\n

Sen. Randy Robertson (R \u2013 29) will serve as chair of the Retirement Committee.<\/p>\n

Sen. Jeff Mullis (R \u2013 53) will serve as chair of the Rules Committee.<\/p>\n

Sen. Greg Dolezal (R \u2013 27) will serve as chair of the Science and Technology Committee.<\/p>\n

Sen. Jennifer Jordan (D \u2013 6) will serve as chair of the Special Judiciary Committee.<\/p>\n

Sen. Lee Anderson (R \u2013 24) will serve as chair of the State and Local Governmental Operations Committee.<\/p>\n

Sen. Ed Harbison (D – 15) will serve as chair of the State Institutions and Property Committee.<\/p>\n
