Photo: Twitter<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em><strong>Marietta Daily Journal<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nNov 8, 2019<\/p>\n<p>Opinion<\/p>\n<p><strong>Commend county leaders who support IMAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DEAR EDITOR:<\/p>\n<p>Cobb County will soon need to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdjonline.com\/news\/cobb-creating-a-new-image-for-hiring-practices\/article_381be6c3-f376-58e3-8c59-2c5bb20c9408.html\"> recertify<\/a> its participation in the U.S. Government\u2019s IMAGE (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ice.gov\/features\/image\">ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers<\/a>) program, a program which, in conjunction with E-Verify, is designed to weed out and prevent illegal immigrants from using false documents to obtain employment and commit other forms of identity fraud. Commissioners<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdjonline.com\/news\/birrell-renews-debate-on-making-county-contractors-screen-job-applicants\/article_a1a6ed06-f44d-11e9-8139-6f8576543fd0.html\"> JoAnn Birrell<\/a>, Keli Gambrill, Bob Ott and Chairman Mike Boyce have been supportive in the past; Commissioner Cupid is a Democrat whose support is, at best, questionable.<\/p>\n<p>Citizens of Cobb should be grateful for the support of this very important program by four of our five commissioners, and I certainly thank them for their effort to ensure our laws are enforced.
