Governor Kemp signed this bill yesterday. The IERB is officially abolished. Good riddance!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The bill (HB553) that repeals the law that created the IERB received zero &#8220;NAY&#8221; votes. We are confident the governor will allow this bill to become law. Did we say &#8220;WHOPPEE?&#8221; Please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macon.com\/opinion\/opn-columns-blogs\/article157709589.html\">see here<\/a> for a little more insight on our joy. <a href=\"https:\/\/decaturish.com\/2019\/04\/state-legislature-quietly-eliminates-immigration-enforcement-review-board\/\">See here<\/a> for more info from Decaturish.com<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedustininmansociety.org\/blog\/index.php?s=IERB+\">DIS archive of IERB here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.legis.ga.gov\/Legislation\/20192020\/187440.pdf\"><strong>HB 553<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>PART XVII<br \/>\n<strong>318 SECTION 17-1.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>319 Title 50 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to state government, is amended<br \/>\n320 by repealing <a href=\"https:\/\/law.justia.com\/codes\/georgia\/2014\/title-50\/chapter-36\/section-50-36-3\/\">Code Section 50-36-3<\/a>, relating to the Immigration Enforcement Review Board,<br \/>\n321 membership, duties, sanctions, and civil actions, and designating said Code section as<br \/>\n322 reserved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>323 SECTION 17-2.<\/strong><br \/>\n324 Any assets of the Immigration Enforcement Review Board existing as of June 30, 2019, shall<br \/>\n325 devolve by operation of law and without further action to the State of Georgia on July 1,<br \/>\n326 2019. Any liabilities and obligations of the Immigration Enforcement Review Board existing<br \/>\n327 as of June 30, 2019, shall be transferred to and assumed by the State of Georgia, by such<br \/>\n328 instruments as may be required to maintain the same.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; UPDATED May 13, 2019.
