IRS Sends Checks to Illegal Immigrants

Illegal immigrants are sent more than $1.5 billion [1]by the IRS each year just from the Child Tax Credit and the Additional Child Tax Credit, according to a review by my colleague Peter Schulkin of two reports from the Treasury Department’s Inspector General for Tax Administration. And this is just the money sent to filers who put on their tax returns the IRS’s illegal-alien identifier, the Individual Tax Identification Number or ITIN; an unknowable sum was sent to others who filed with legitimate Social Security numbers that they were issued when they came on work visas or student visas, but who later became illegal aliens when they refused to leave at the end of their authorized period of stay.
