According to a recent GAO report [1], this fencing costs $4.8 million per mile to construct. “I certainly hope this isn’t all they are building,” said Glenn Spencer of American Border Patrol, “because at nearly five million dollars a mile, if this is all there is, this contract would have to be mostly profit.” American Border Patrol is presently preparing a comprehensive report on border infrastructure development in the past year.
