Illegal alien lobby to meet resistance

By D.A. King, Marietta Daily Journal, April 6, 2005

The next several weeks should be an interesting period to observe the shenanigans of the many pandering politicians, the criminal employers who profit from taxpayer subsidized illegal labor ... and the vast illegal alien lobby.

Forgive me, again, for being redundant.

With a mission to lawfully deter and draw attention to illegal border crossers, fed-up Americans from all over the nation have gathered near the Mexican - American border in Cochise County, Ariz.

Think of them as "undocumented Border Patrol agents" - or a national "neighborhood watch group".

For those who are not already following the story on CNN's nightly "Lou Dobbs Tonight," let me explain.

These volunteers are part of the "Minute Man Project" - organized by Jim Gilchrist - a former Marine, and retired accountant from California - and Chris Simcox, publisher of the Arizona newspaper, "Tombstone Tumbleweed".

The effort has already drawn more than a little attention to the fact that the president of the United States allows what Arizona Senator John McCain reported last year to be about 10,000 illegal aliens a day to cross our borders.

What the Wall Street investment firm Bear Stearns estimates to number 18 to 20 million nationally.

The U.S. Border Patrol tells us that 4,000 of that number come across the Arizona border alone - every day.

There may be as many as 1,000 Americans participating in the Minute Man Project - which is about five times the 210 new Border Patrol Agents that the president has requested for each of the next five years.

Here, Congress has tried to do its job; in December, it asked for 2,000 new Border Patrol agents a year for the next five years in the recent "Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004".

What the world will see is Americans attempting to do the job that the president will not do.

In opposition to the effort, Mexico's president, Vicente Fox, has threatened to take "legal action" and has moved troops to the area, to prevent what he labels as a "human rights abuse" of what are mostly Mexican "migrants" that sent 16 billion American dollars back to his country last year.

Later in the month, (starting April 23) Roger Hedgecock, former mayor of San Diego and radio talk show host, has arranged, with the help of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), a five-day event in Washington D.C., to lobby Congress.

Hundreds of concerned citizens from all parts of the nation will converge on our national Capitol to demand that existing laws actually be enforced, and that our homeland be secured- in a "War on Terror".

"Hold Their Feet to the Fire", as the event is known, will allow us pesky citizens to show Congress our support for, among other ideas, the "REAL ID ACT" [HR 418] - a bill that would help to secure American borders and insure that nationally, only legal residents of our nation have access to a driver's license.

Kind of like what the Mexican government does for its citizens.

I know - what a concept.

To take the message to the doorstep of the source of the problem, we at The American Resistance Foundation (TAR) - in a "War on Terror", is it OK to say "resist" out loud? - along with the Hedgecock/FAIR group, will begin the Washington lobbying week with a peaceful protest rally at the White House.

Yes - that White House, the American people's house - where the President lives.

On Monday, April 25, 2005, TAR will sponsor a three hour (9 am - noon) demonstration of what poll after poll shows to be the majority of the American people's opinion of the President's amnesty proposal - umm -"guest worker program" (you say "tom-ah- toe"- I say - "it didn't work in 1986, and it is, by any definition - 'am-ness-tee' ".)

The White House comment line number is 202 456 1111.

The criminal employers who hire this taxpayer subsidized illegal labor force will not be forgotten.

Seen any here in Cobb County?

All of the events described above will be conducted in English.

In our own demand for a better life - and that American law be enforced in America - all of the events described above will adhere to- the law.

What a concept.
